The QMediaPlayer object does not have a valid service

Running Digikam 5.2 with

  * KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
  * Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)
  * The xcb windowing system

When I try to view a video I get "An error has occurred with the media 
player...."

If I start it from terminal I see

digikam.general: Error:  "The QMediaPlayer object does not have a valid 
service"

Is there some other setup I need to do to get it to work?
