[Digikam-users] digikam for xubuntu

I was wrong:

​is not Xubuntu; the ​
exact version is

ID=ubuntu
ID_LIKE=debian
PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu precise (12.04.4 LTS)"
VERSION_ID="12.04"

"About" digiKam tells:

Versione 2.5.0
Con piattaforma di sviluppo KDE 4.8.5 (4.8.5)


so I suppose that version is 2.5.


I executed the command sudo apt-get install digikam but it seems that I
have the last version available.


Can you please explain to me which advantage I have if I compile digiKam?
​I am certainly interested to work with the last stable version.
