Alternatively, you could use mouse gesture to use Keyboards shortcut.
I personally use Easystroke for that (and for a lot of more things), very
easy to set and very efficient.
I set some gesture for Digikam only (whose work only in the digikam
windows), for rating 0,1,2,3,4 or 5 star, for going to next, previous
picture, assign a label and potentially more.
The only matter now, is some digikam's internal shortcuts are already took
by system (ubuntu 13.04 with unity), but I don't found where to inactivate
the system's one.
