[Digikam-users] IPTC: Person Shown / PersonInImage

on the left hand side of the user interface, click the bottom icon on the
vertical toolbar for the automatic people tagging tool. Or, on the right
hand side vertical toolbar, find the 5th icon, then choose the Tags tab,
and find or add the people section...
