Thank you for the reply.

I don't recall any upgrades since the last time I started digikam
successfully but last week I was attempting to get some unrelated
software working.

BTW, my system is Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. Digikam is 2.1.1 using KDE
development platform 4.7.4

When I start digikam on the command line, the messages are:

~ $ digikam
QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is
still in use, all queries will cease to work.
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action
void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::fillLayoutItem(DBusMenuLayoutItem*,
QMenu*, int, int, const QStringList&): No id for action

(GUI then appears with only a single album visible)

thank you,

-rei
