>From my own experience, I don't think so: collections are only available
and thumbnails displayed when the device is connected (myself, I stored my
main collections on external hard drives). That's probably because
thumbnails are not store in Digikam database.
By the way, I don't use any CD/DVD; hard drives get cheaper as time goes on
... and picture files grow bigger in the same time, so I don't see any
point to manage a huge number of CD/DVD. Besides, the notebook I take with
me when travelling doesn't even have a CD/DVD reader
Unless someone more knowledgeable on this subject can provide some setting
that could change this behavior, I guess you'll have to do without your
collections when they are not connected.
