OK, the first part - renaming the files with a datestamp - turns out to
be easy with exiftool. In fact the script[1] I used to use for grabbing
everything off my cameras' memory cards does the job just fine!
However the newly copied and datestamped files don't show up in digikam.
Interesting they do show up in gwenview which is also able to play them
- I thought digikam and gwenview shared code?
I guess if I can crack the second bit of my task - converting to program
stream .MOVs - digikam should be OK with them.
