Today, I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my production machine and I opted for digiKam 2.1.1 available in the official Ubuntu software repo. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that instead of a flat and neat tag structure, I've got a tree consisting of two _Digikam_root_tag_ branches with all my tags all over the places. For example, I used to have a handful of photos tagged with a single "tokyo" tag. Now I have three "tokyo" tags both in the My Tags branch as well as as both _Digikam_root_tag_ branches. The whole thing looks something like this:
>
> My Tags
> |_tokyo(25)
> |_ _Digikam_root_tag_
>        |_tokyo(10)
>      |_ _Digikam_root_tag_
>           |_tokyo(1)
