Script console. Macro function

Can anybody give a link to information related to script console. So far 
I did not manage to find out what itś all about or what I can do whit 
it. I was strongly hoping it was some sort of macro like thing to 
automate stuff. That is my second question, does something like that 
exist in Digikam?
