Hi Gilles,

While investigating this problem, not only did was I able to watch the
tags disappear from the metadata XMP hierarchicalSubject, etc in the
digiKam side window, then reappear after synching up the database with
the images, but also confirmed independently with exiftool that the
tags were being removed while tagging, and then rewritten when
synching.
