[Digikam-users] Reading tags from XMP sidecar files

Hi,

I have folders where digikam wrote tags to xmp sidecar files for all image
files. I subsequently created a new database and now I want to add these
folders to digikam as a collection, with the expectation that the tags will
be read from the sidecar files. However, this does not happen. Even when I
use Image>Metadata>Import XMP... for a specific image, the tags are not
read.

Is there a way to get the tags from the sidecar files into the digikam
database?
