do not add " .." at the end of the command line, but only " ." (space
dot, to say digikam will be compiled there)
no need at all to be root nor use sudo, safe for installing missing
packages with YaST.
I installed the pattern "kde development" and then cmake asked for
some libraries, like sane, exiv2, marble (and may be some other) -
pretty easy to guess from the "missing" message.

then go to
/usr/src/packages/SOURCES/digikam-2.0.0/core/digikam/
and there find the digikam executable... clic on it it works.
good it works on openSUSE 11.4
I'm not at home and did this on an old computer I have at my mother's
house. Will do the same at home soon
