[Digikam-users] Embedded previews in DNG files

I've recently been converting all my Sony a200's RAW files to DNG with
the JPEG preview set to medium. I was just wondering, what uses the
embedded thumbnail? Because it doesn't looks like digiKam or Nautilus
does.

Also, random question, do I lose any data when converting my RAW files
to DNG?
