Thanks for the suggestion. After much fussing and thrashing about,
pounding the computer and cursing the computer gods, I got the latest
compiled and installed. And yes, I can now properly update the
metadata templates.
However, I cannot find any option to apply a template to a photo, or
perhaps a range of photos. Am I improperly assuming the intent of the
templates, or might I have missed an option in the build of the
program.
