Have a look at the patch in

I have thought for quite a while about the best way to allow
for changing between different maps via the GUI.
Currently I think it is best (and easiest)
to add a new entry in digikams configuration section
to choose from different maps.

To support the opencyclemap, one would need to get a list
of available maps from marble
(Torsten, is there such a function in marble?),
as this one (and others) are not available
per default but via the GHNS mechanism.

So in principle it shouldn't be very difficult to implement,
we just have to decide whether we want a new configuration
option (IMO yes) and then someone has to do the coding ...
