I don't know what to make of all this. But since I do not use the ipod export 
from within digiKam, disabling it during the compile 
with --disable-ipodexport, should solve the matter for now.

But then I run into the next problem while trying to update and/or checkout 
the svn repos for libs and graphics:
svn: No such revision 917751
