Same problem for me, although it's a minor problem as I don't use
Picasa.

A couple of things I miss in the geotagging:

* The ability to use GPS logs in NMEA-format. It's a very popular format
on GPS loggers, and quite simple to read. There are external programs
that can convert back and forth between NMEA and GPX, but it's an extra
step that I'd rather be without. I can provide sample NMEA files if
needed. Specifications can be found at http://aprs.gids.nl/nmea/,
although most of the possible data posts (sentences in NMEA
nomenclature) can be ignored as it's only one, possibly two, that are
needed for this. If I remember correctly, it's lines beginning with
$GPGLL (position and time), and possibly $GPGGA (system fix data). Each
line is a simple comma separated list of fields, so it's easy to parse.

* The ability to select several GPS logs when tagging. My logger either
runs out of batteries or gets turned off to preserve batteries, so it
generates several files. It would be nice to be able to select all of
them to automatically tag a bunch of photos. Not something I couldn't
live without, but it would be nice to have.

I geotag all my outdoor photos, so anything that streamlines the process
is a great help.
