Are you sure to have installed DigikamImagePlugins 0.9.1 at thesame time
than digiKam 0.9.1 ?

DigikamImagePlugins 0.9.0 can work with digiKam 0.9.1. The shared library
libdigikam.so binary compatibilty is broken. This lib is provided by digiKam
core and is used by DigikamImagePlugins.
