The only one I found is here:

you don't like to install the tarball?

I guess on Suse you'll need another prefix than mentioned on that page:
--prefix=/opt/kde3
(not sure about that!!!)

... and maybe some devel packages, don't know. But you'll get the messages 
about what is missing and the kind people here will help you if problems 
arise...
