That's one of the first things that I do when I reinstall.

No, mPlayer works fine from konqi.
The suggestion to simply right-click the video and to choose a
different program is impractical for two reasons:
1) Digikam is used by the wife and the mother in law. If this needs
explanation, then no explanation will do.
2) We often fall on the videos when browsing the picture view, not the
thumbnail view. So, whoop, there it is, nobody expected that the next
file would be video.
Here, I bugzilla'ed a solution (for me at least), to simpy keep the
videos in a separate folder:
