Yes, some camera use non-standard Exif tags to place exotic values...

...but Makernote Exif tag (not tags) are placed in a standard way. Of course 
Makernotes tags are un-standardized.

Look like Makernotes is a standardized Exif subfolder witch a content 
unstandardized.
