I've just nuked all presence of digikam, kipi plugins and exiv2 from my 
machine, including source code.

I've recompiled exiv2, kipi plugins and digikam - the crash occurs in the same 
place.

I'm at work right now, so I'll have to tackle this in bits and pieces, or I'll 
tackle it when I get home.
