ok,

i see a possible reason. As you told me you've placed the scripts in

/etc/udev/agents.d/usb/

but the startup scripts tries to start digiKam with the starter script using

/etc/hotplug/usb/digikam-hotplug


So this has naturally to fail. I will send you a new version of the 
scripts within the next 1-2  hours.
