It will help to see the debug statements printed by digiKam will it running.
You need debugview tool from Microsoft for that. There is no reason to see a
difference between windows and Linux to process DNG files. It low level code
using standard fonctions.

I suspect a file system access problem, as long file names or UTF8
compatibility.
