Bug ID: 360040
Summary: Information in metadata and geolocation sidebar is
inconsistent
Product: digikam
Version: 4.12.0
Platform: MS Windows
URL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ge4xpbcp80rglt0/1910-XX-XX%2

OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Geolocation
Assignee: digikam-devel at kde.org
Reporter: twcunningham627 at outlook.com
I have a picture (URL above) that shows the following GPS metadata in the right
sidebar:
Global Positioning System
GPS Altitude 229 m
GPS Altitude Reference Above sea level
GPS Latitude 32deg 28' 56.500"
GPS Latitude Reference North
GPS Longitude 96deg 59' 40.016"
GPS Longitude Reference West
GPS Map Datum WGS-84
GPS Version ID 2.3.0.0
However, when I switch to Geolocation, the following information appears at the
bottom of the sidebar:
Altitude: 0 m
Latitude: 32.4824
Longitude: 96.9833
Date: 01/01/10 12:00:00 AM
And the map displays in China (should be Texas; longitude should be negative).
As a check, I dumped out the GPS metadata using ExifTool:
---- GPS ----
GPS Version ID : 2.3.0.0
GPS Latitude Ref : North
GPS Latitude : 32 deg 28' 56.50"
GPS Longitude Ref : West
GPS Longitude : 96 deg 59' 40.02"
GPS Altitude Ref : Above Sea Level
GPS Altitude : 229 m
GPS Map Datum : WGS-84
---- XMP-exif ----
GPS Altitude : 229 m
GPS Altitude Ref : Above Sea Level
GPS Latitude : 32 deg 28' 56.50" N
GPS Longitude : 96 deg 59' 40.02" W
GPS Longitude Ref : W
GPS Map Datum : WGS-84
GPS Version ID : 2.3.0.0
---- Composite ----
GPS Altitude : 229 m Above Sea Level
GPS Latitude : 32 deg 28' 56.50" N
GPS Latitude Ref : North
GPS Longitude : 96 deg 59' 40.02" W
GPS Longitude Ref : West
GPS Position : 32 deg 28' 56.50" N, 96 deg 59' 40.02" W
This agrees with the digiKam GPS metadata, but I’m not sure which bits the
Geolocation sidebar is referencing.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Import photo at URL above into digiKam and select it.
2. Open Metadata tab in right sidebar of digiKam. Information will be
correct.
3. Open Geolocation tab in right sidebar of digiKam. Information will be
wrong and map display will be incorrect.
Actual Results:
Information in Geolocation sidebar is inaccurate and map display is incorrect.
Expected Results:
GPS data in Geolocation tab should match that in GPS section of Metadata tab.
