What do you mean with "removable media D:\". This is the second partition of my
hdd. I can't move data to C: because the first partition is just large enough
to hold the OS and the applications. I have >200GB of images which I'm not
going to move anywhere else.

I'll wait until the backup is done (probably not before tomorrow
afternoon/evening). Then I will reboot the machine, deactivate anti-virus, and
start digikam before any other application was started. Let's see if the
problem still appears then. If yes, we would at least have a clean debug log.
