Under linux, we have a tool named JPEGTrans :

http://linux.die.net/man/1/jpegtran

Which use libjpeg lossless transform code. If you can reproduce the problem
with it, it's clear, JPEG library has a bug.

Can you perform some test with this CLI tool on your computer ?
