I have 1192 photos on my SD card. When I open the Import window it immediately
fills up with thumbnail placeholders while the thumbs are being generated. If I
click on the "Image" menu the items are active, I can press them. So far so
good. If you are following the steps to reproduce, close the Import window.

Open the Import window again ("Import > Card Readers > SD/MMC Card Reader
etc"). Now as soon as the thumbnail placeholders appear, scroll down! Now when
I click on the Image menu, for a second the items are clickable, but then they
become disabled. They remain disabled until some thumbs are generated, but I
couldn't figure out which ones.

I have attached a screencast of the problem, it is standard VP8 and so should
play in any modern browser (Opera, Firefox, Chrome, Chromium) or
mpv/mplayer/vlc etc.
