            Bug ID: 329975
Summary: Metadata tag is never (re-)read from image
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: digikam
           Version: 3.5.0
          Platform: Debian testing
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Metadata
          Assignee: digikam-devel at kde.org
          Reporter: simon.eu at gmail.com

I have a funny problem here. My setup is that I have a laptop and a PC, and
synchronise the pictures with rsync. Usually this is no problem, captions,
tags, etc. get updated automatically.

One time it failed though, and I have not the slightest idea why, also the next
time it worked again with the newly synchronised pictures. The pictures from
the one run where it did not work still do not have the added tags.

I tried Album > Reread Metadata from Images. This works, BUT I cannot do this
for all 600 albums as I have no idea where else I have images that are affected
by this bug.
Then I tried to remove and re-add the collection in the settings dialog.
Digikam then scanned all images, I guess, but STILL did not update the tags on
the affected images. Is all information about collections cached somewhere even
when I remove it from Digikam?
Finally I did Collection > Reread Metadata from Images … ah no, sorry, this
does not exist anymore in this version :P

I'm now going to try deleting the sqlite database because I really do need the
tags now. Or rename it, for debugging purposes.

Maybe there is not a way to prevent this from happening on synchronisation. But
then, at least there should be an option to re-check ALL metadata without
having to do some hacks.

Reproducible: Sometimes
