            Bug ID: 341888
Summary: Feature Request - Change order and resort images
                    manually
           Product: digikam
           Version: 4.4.0
          Platform: Debian testing
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Light Table
          Assignee: digikam-devel at kde.org
          Reporter: crptdngl71 at gmx.net

Szenario:
I have a large number of digitized colour slides (approx. 2000). These were
named alphanumerically by the automation process of the digitizing service. As
there was no way to create tags and descriptions of the contents of the slides
in advance, all images were returned without any further description.

Now it is my task to resort digitized images into "colour slide boxes" to make
sure I got back all images as desired, and also to create meaningful tags and
descriptions of them.

Another main task is to change the order of the images manually.
In analogue world I would have placed a pile of slides on a light table, resort
images as needed (i.e. create a meaningful order that makes sense) and then
return slides back into their box.

At the moment there is no way to resort/reorder images manually in digiKam,
although there is a light table that helps with comparing images rather than
change their order.

There actually is a program that does what I would like to see in digiKam, but
as it is an external program and it is a Gnome application it is not my
preferred way. The program is called AutoRenamer:

Please note that I do not mean to rename files automatically by a given tag or
by a given description, as this could be done in digikam and/or renaming tools
of kde. What I need is a way to manually change order of images.

Reproducible: Always
