This bug still occurs in digiKam 4.2.0 and 4.3.0.

The 4.3.0 version was commit 5694183 from
git://anongit.kde.org/digikam-software-compilation

I downloaded 4.2.0 from
http://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/digikam-4.2.0.tar.bz2

The digiKam 4.1.0 download I mentioned in my previous comment was
digikam-4.1.0-6.3.x86_64 in the repository
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tumbleweed/standard/
