            Bug ID: 327676
Summary: automated picture cutting produces _quadratic_ pics
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: digikam
           Version: 3.4.0
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Image Editor
          Assignee: digikam-devel at kde.org
          Reporter: axel.krebs at t-online.de

when stitching some pic into a panorama, digiKam produces very often nearly
_quadratic_ pics.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. stitch some (jpg-)pics
2. start "automatic cutting" within image editor
3.
Actual Results:
very often, digiKam produces nearly quadratic pics, whereas original sizes are
much mor longish - size relations of 1 : 3, 1 : 5 etc.

Expected Results:
images should be cut under the conduition to _maximize_ the produicesd
pic-area.

(This could be achieved by "maximizing the two diagonals", e.g. see GIMP or
others)
