I am running digikam Version 3.4.0 Using KDE Development Platform 4.10.2 on
Windows 7. I too am getting a problem with altering tags on some pictures and
the software crashing. When I run the backtrace software it claims there is
nothing useful :( 
When I restart the software the alterations have taken place. If I alter the
caption I do not get a problem, just adding people tags, seems to cause the
problem.
So far this version has worked well, it is only now, I am tagging up my latest
library which I have just downloaded from my phone that it has started to
crash, other older libraries were ok when I did them, so I'm not sure at the
moment what the difference is. I will have a play and see if I can discover
anything helpful.
