It means developing this feature in an own git branch, see
https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorial/git-branches for some tutorial (or
google up "branches in git"). Then you can push this branch to the KDE
repository where other developers can have a look and test it out without
any changes to the master branch (which is the "main" branch everyone uses).
