Note that PostgreSQL backend is a wish in this bugzilla entry :

Please, if you want to communicate with digiKam team, it's better to post
your message in this entry instead the devel ML. In fact all messages from
bugzilla are automatically posted in this ML. The advantage is that history
in bugzilla is long (infinite). This is not the case with a ML.
