Did a test under openSUSE 12.2 (i586) and Kernel 3.4.6-2.10-default i686 under
VirtualBox 4.1.6
DigiKam-Version 2.6.0
KDE 4.8.5 release 2
In this version the presentation of images as relative links is OK,
while the presentation of absolute linked images does not work.
The behavior of Digikam is quite opposite between versions 2.2.0 and 2.6.0

Because I can do what I want in version 2.6.0, you might close the call.
Otherwise: If it is important for you to make some investigations I can do some
tests if needed.
