I tagged between 1 and a few dozen JPEG images at a time, and occassionally
some AVI files too.  In all cases, the process jobs don't go away until I close
Digikam.

Not sure what metadata settings you are interested in.  There's one section
labeled "Write this information to the metadata".  Prfeviously, I had none of
those items checked.  I just tried checking them all, and I am still seeing
persistent process jobs after tagging after making that change.

My uname -a:
Linux localhost 2.6.35-gentoo-r5 #3 SMP Wed Sep 29 22:15:48 PDT 2010 x86_64 AMD
Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 4050e AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
