[Digikam-devel] [Bug 293173] Digikam does not play videos

I can confirm this problem.  I am running KDE 4.8.0 on Gentoo, with Digikam 2.5.
 I used to be able to play video files just fine in Digikam (that was KDE-4.6
and Digikam 1.8).

One more detail: when I click on a movie file, in the top right corner of the
blank white pane, there is the message: "Failed to load image".  So if we take
that literally, then maybe some part of the code is not checking the file type
correctly?
