Same here, it's rather frustrating for the user because there's nothing
indicating that the operation is still ongoing, but attempting to work on
images, especially tagging faces is made extremely difficult while it's still
processing.

Also, Digikam can be seen using nearly 100% of the CPU power on my quad-core
CPU in system manager, and there's no way to pause or stop, or even know why
it's still consuming those resources, making your PC largely unusable for an
unknown amount of time, with little way of knowing when it is complete.

I would think making the process visible in the status bar would be a
relatively quick easy boost to usability.
