It crash in versioning implementation :

#11 0x00007f961297f41a in operator-> (this=<optimized out>) at
/usr/src/debug/digikam-2.2.0/core/libs/dimg/imagehistory/dimagehistory.cpp:64

It reproducible at 100% ?

Can you run digiKam through valgrind, and report the console trace here. Look
in HACKING file for details.
