Are there new developments?

In the last three weeks I used fantastic autumn wheather to shoot ~4000
pics... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inversion_%28meteorology%29 ,
http://www.schwarzwaldhochstrasse.de/31-1-Hornisgrinde-and-Bismarckturm.html
, sight to the Alpen, Berner Oberland Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau, 350 km
distance!!)

Can I trust digiKam now, not to damage my NEF-pics?
Can I be sure about digiKam?
Is there a check, a procedure to deal with this issue?

Hope urgently for a solution
