Hello:

I just got an idea: maybe there is technically easy method in combining the
original issue "dealing more than one format of one pic" (NEF + jpg, crw + jpg,
...) in the context of versioning. 

I assume there is some database technology behind, and combining the ability of
versioning PLUS handling several formats of one picture maybe very useful in
the contect of workflow.

Example of my workflow:
- Shooting a pic produces NEF PLUS jpg.
- creating a panorama creates PNG or TIF

Other combinations may happen...

Maybe a continous search for similar pics (in the background or when added
first) could support this intention.

Hope I could explain my thoughts
