That's the thing. DSC_7440 is not hidden, both are visible. Opening 7440_v1 in
the editor, DSC_7440 is not recorded as the ancestor. And to even further show
that something went seriously wrong:

(same is true for _v1. 
Unfortunatelly, for some odd reason, exiv2 doesn't print out the tags for those
files. The thing is (as noted), they do not match: 

DSC_7440.jpg has no tags and a rating of 2
DSC_7440_v1.jpg has tags darktable|format|jpg and a rating of 2
