yes, I've recompiled digiKam with internal libpgf only later and the backtrace
is the same
I'm digging the sources right now at least to understund how it crashes, thanks
for the pointers

No, that's how the problem generated initially, there is _only_ a pgf broken:

I've also extracted all thumbnails from the database to pgf files and they are
all readable

I'm looking into showfoto, since it's reproducible there and there are less
threads involved ;)
