good, please add to .kde/share/apps/digikam/mysql.conf

[mysqld]
err-log  = <HOME>/.kde/share/apps/digikam/db_misc/mysql.err
log-error = <HOME>/.kde/share/apps/digikam/db_misc/mysqld.err

reason for mysql to not start are many and sparsed, need to see the log files
