I found the reason!

If one saves a JPG to PGF, the size is small, i.e. ~100kb for a 10 MPx image.

However if one demosaics a RAW picture, crops it to only 2 MPx and saves it as 
lossy low quality PGF it still has 1,5 MB, i.e. 15 times as big as saving from 
JPG although it only has 1/5 of the size.

Is this a bug?
