Hi,
A project could be to add local editing.
All digiKam filters could be applied using a mask which could be defined by
different means:
1- by a property of a given pixel:
- a- color range
- b- saturation range
- c- lightness range
2- by the position of the given pixel:
-a- a circular gradient
-b- a linear gradient
- ...
3- by a mix of the two
- a- pixels which "look like" this pixel in this area
This would allow for example:
- to darken a sky using 2-b and the saturation filter
- to add saturation to colors which are not skin tones using 1-a
- to make all colors except red monochrome using 1-a
- add grain only to midtones using 1-c
- ...
Some of these features exists in Darktable.
