Jans,

digiKam crash because not all config file from digiKam are installed on your
system.

Here digiKam do not crash on my macbook.

On the trace, i can see :

digikam(3527)/kdeui (kdelibs): No such XML file
"/opt/local/share/apps/digikam/queuemgrwindowui.rc" 
QEventDispatcherUNIXPrivate(): Unable to create thread pipe: Too many open
files
QEventDispatcherUNIXPrivate(): Can not continue without a thread pipe

Check your installation...
