>From what I could understand, the database was already corrupted before the
upgrade. As my backups seem to have the same problem, I decided to restart
afresh with a new Digikam (after having written the metadata to the images).

This has solved the problem for now.

Nonetheless, I would like to have some ready-made procedure or script in order
to check/rebuild the database at will, and at least before each upgrade that
involves a modification of the database.
