Summary: No option to disable importing certain file types
           Product: digikam
           Version: 1.9.0
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Import
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel at kde.org
        ReportedBy: shane at animail.com

Version: 1.9.0 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

Digikam is able to import many file types including audio files.
In the preferences there is an option to ADD more file types but no option to
disable any.

Many people, like me, use camera phones for photos and many cameras phones are
also mp3 players.
The result is, in order to import a couple of pictures, I have to wait for
digikam to scan and load hundreds of audio files which I then have to plough
through in the import window to find the particular photos I want.

Not only that, the import window also shows hundreds of album covers and even
small image files from phone themes.

There should be options to disable scanning for audio files and also to disable
scanning for files under a specified size.

A filter would help with regard to finding what I want but would still mean
waiting for it to scan.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Connect multimedia device ie mp3/mp4 player, mobile camera phone, smart phone
etc and import.

Actual Results:
The import window appears frozen with no loading progress as it scans through
hundreds of audio, video and themes/wallpapers etc.
On occasion, this freezing never appears to resolve and results in a popup
asking if I want to terminate the application.

Expected Results:
The software should have given me an option to disable scanning certain file
types such as audio/video and files under a certain size.
